Communities
Antler Lake
The Hamlet of Antler Lake is
a picturesque community
situated on the shores of
Antler Lake, just 15 minutes
east of Sherwood Park.
The hamlet consists
of 353 residents.
Most reside on
the eastern
and southern
shores of the
lake, with a portion of the community built on
Hazelnut Island.
Mr. Gregory, a gentleman of the area, developed the
community in the early 1950s; later in 1975 area residents
formed the Antler Lake Community League (ALCL). For his work,
Mr. Gregory had a park named after him – Gregory Park – which
is located across from the Antler Lake Community Hall and has
been designated as a natural area within the community.
In the early 1990s, the Uncas Community League,
neighbours to Antler Lake, disbanded their league and
joined ALCL.
The Antler Lake hamlet is an area that has ready access to
many outdoor recreation opportunities. Situated on Range
Road 211 and 211A just north of Wye Road, is within five minutes of
the Strathcona Wilderness Centre, Cooking Lake – Blackfoot Grazing,
Wildlife and Provincial Recreation Area, and the Elk Island National Park
of Canada.
Sherwood Park and Tofield are both within 15-20 minutes of Antler Lake and
have many businesses and recreation opportunities of their own. Antler
Lake is also situated within five minutes of the Uncas Elementary School,
which many of the local children attend. It’s a great community either
to raise children or to retire in with its easy accessibility and local
recreation opportunities.
Local shopping opportunities are within five to ten minutes
including gifts, antiques, and or course, gasoline & convenience
store items. Local restaurants are great places for a cup of coffee or
tea and offer great food.
There are opportunities to get to know your community and neighbours. Join in
the fun at Neighbour Day or come out to Pub Night on every 3rd Saturday. For more
information call 780-922-0791. For hall bookings see page 43.
