West Jiuhua Mountain at Gushi town not far from of Xinyang city is a 4A National Scenic Area that features nearly 100 attractions stretched across 120km2.

Little can compare with the Bamboo Sea which is touted

as one of the natural wonders of Henan with the dense bamboo

forest filled with more than 20 varieties of bamboo.

A large swathe of land on the mountain is dotted with tea farms. Standing 500m above sea level, they grow one of the best tea in China – Xinyang Maojian.

Mangdang Mountain is a 14km2 scenic area in Shangqui consisting of a dozen hills.

Visit the Sage Park dedicated to Confucius, a stone tablet depicting Emperor Gaozu’s snake-slaying legend, and the Tomb of Chen Sheng who was the leader of the first peasant revolt in Chinese history.

Quite amazing is the Western Han Tomb, an underground mausoleum that’s 1,300 years older than the Ming Dynasty Tomb in Beijing. The tomb features many rare finds, including the earliest version of the sitting toilet in China and an ice cellar for food storage.

Longtan Valley, or Dragon Lake Valley, in Luoyang is part of the Daimei Mountain World Geo-park. Gaze at dangerous-looking cliffs and wander among clear streams, cascading waterfalls and lakes. The adventurous can try rock-climbing, the 180m-long cable slide or cross the 88m-high cable suspension bridge.
