Whether you love the rush over powder snow or want to photograph one of the most beautiful winter scenes, Funiu Mountain is a stop not to miss.
Make your base the Funiu Mountain Resort which consists of five parts: Outdoor Ski Area, the Four Seasons Ski Centre, Lakeside Tourism Area, Alpine Tourism Area and the Ice and Snow Ecological Park.
The Outdoor Ski Area offers five zones catering to the different levels of ski experience, including a school for beginners. Even if you don’t plan to ski, there are equipment such as snowboards, snowmobiles and Italian sleds for rent. All are in an affordable price range of RMB120 to RMB300 (US$18.57 - US$46.37). Held every January, is the Funiu Mountain Ski Festival that’s packed with entertainment and includes the open-alpine skiing championships with professionals from all over China taking part.
A ticket to the Funiu Mountain Ski Resort costs RMB30 (US$4.63). Drive to Luanchuan county from Luoyang, Zhengzhou or Sanmenxia. The adventurous can bus to Luanchuan, then catch a tour bus service to the resort for only RMB8 (US$1.24). The resort offers restaurants and hotels with room rates ranging from RMB80 to RMB500 (US$12.38 to US$77.37).

Catch the open-air cable car (RMB50 or US$7.74) for breath-taking views from the Alpine Tourism Area that's 2,200m above sea level. In spring, summer and autumn, the sprawling peaks of Funiu Mountain that stretch 400km is covered by forests and peaks shrouded in rolling clouds.
At the Four Seasons Ski Centre, visitors get to enjoy winter sports at any time of the year as it offers indoor skiing and skating all year round.
