The Issue
said , ” Look , the reason is pretty simple , if I have allotted the job at say 20000 per month but the productivity of the engineer is half , then I am at a big loss . So , I split the salary in two , and increased an engineer for that job . It ’ s all about productivity of that engineer .” When countering the question as productivity comes with the time , they said , “ So what ? I am not here to let them settle and bear losses , productivity has nothing to do with time .”
Answers where quite blunt , but straight forward . It has to be understood that professionalism does not reflect any sort of sympathy to its young guns . You have it if you deserve it . This gives light to another important issue , which is training . About 80 % of the Civil Engineering students do not consider doing adequate training during their summer breaks . Some arrange their training certificate , some do occasional visit and some generate fake training certificates .
While the graduation study is already struggling , the students must take the industrial training very seriously . Citing the training outcome which is merely 20 %, it becomes quite clear that why the employability rate is mere 7.49 %.
Colleges too must understand that the marketing through flex , banners , celebrity pictures are good till admissions only . Of course the aggressive marketing add up to the reputation of the college which is one of the factor why an intermediate pass out prefer the college . But the real marketing is word to mouth or mouth to mouth marketing .
Every guardian of student or the students themselves have become quite cautious . They prefer advice from existing or pass out students of that same college . With various so called ‘ Confession Pages ’ and ‘ College Diaries ’ available on social media , one can easily get the true review of the college from reliable sources .
So the colleges must be quite focused on improving the education facilities of the core branches like Civil , Mechanical and Electrical which require quite an investment in labs and fields . Also extra emphasis must be given to the students of core groups as there is ample opportunities in the market for these students . All is needed is to lay a proper foundation for the students . Make sure that do not lose interest in their respective streams . And the reward would be the placements , which actually would enhance the reputation of the college organically .
On the student ’ s part , it must be understood that these grad years are the most important and career defining moments of their life . They must ensure that their basics are good and are learning the course content with ethics . Courses designed by various universities are enough for a student to become eligible employee . Civil to be specific is a very interesting branch where you can learn from a variety of sources . Construction happening around all of us does provide a great source of knowledge .
