RRPPS is the Radia on Protec on Service of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Founda on Trust and is engaged in all aspects of medical physics and radia on protec on . The Service provides guidance , interpreta on and training for implementa on of regula ons and na onal and interna onal guidance , as well as the full range of medical physics func ons including quality assurance of x-ray , radionuclide and MR imaging equipment . It has been recognised as an Approved Dosimetry Service by HSE since the introduc on of the Ionising Radia ons Regula ons in 1985 . Its experience in personal monitoring dates back to 1949 and it is the largest approved dosimetry service in the NHS . It also offers a calibra on service for radia on protec on and diagnos c x-ray instruments . RRPPS ' s primary focus is the medical sector but it also provides services to private healthcare , academic organisa ons and industrial customers .
