Q&A RICARDO CARILLO Describe the most stressful situation you have had at work. How did you handle the situation? shortage of staff at my company, and the shortage of bilingual funeral directors in our industry, we must be able to multitask. Due to the amount of services we perform on a daily basis, everyday is stressful in my company because we have strict performance requirements. I make an effort to attend every funeral we perform for our families. I take things day-by-day and remind myself my company is here to serve the families that have selected us. Imagine that there is a conflict between two people at a funeral service. How would you resolve the conflict? Tell me about a situation when you were able to have a positive influence on another person or group of people. How important is Customer Service at your funerals? All funeral homes have conflict. The best thing to do is not to get in the middle. If there is a fight among families simply call the police, but never try to resolve it. Excellent Customer Service is our #1 goal on each family we serve. I am always at each funeral we have when I am in town. I strive to focus my positive influence towards my staff. I’m very grateful for the dedication my staff has in serving our families with the upmost respect and professionalism every day. What demographics does your business typically cater to? Describe a time that you went above and beyond when consoling someone. 98% of our families are Mexican/Hispanic families whose culture and languages we understand. We go above and beyond for our families in every funeral service. We strive to make a positive difference in the memories of our families by personalizing each funeral. The younger customers are more into social media and we always include them in our arrangements, and we show them our website and Facebook page to spread the announcements of the loved one. Tell me about a time you served as a team leader for a project. How did your leadership help the team accomplish its goals? How did you become interested in funeral service? Why do you enjoy working in funeral service? At Carrillo Funeral Homes, it’s all about teamwork. Every day we come in to serve our families. Each staff member is a team player. That’s the only way to make a funeral perfect. Since I was 19 years old, I’ve always wanted to become a funeral director. At age 20 I graduated from Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. At age 23, I became Founder and President of Carrillo Funeral Homes, Inc. I love what I do everyday. I’m very blessed to be in the funeral service industry.
