The CEIT now functions at the National Telecommunications Research and Training Institute ( INICTEL ) of the National University of Engineering .
50th Anniversary Celebrations
The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru , Ambassador José Beraún Araníbar , presided over a ceremony on 26th March 2013 , to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and India . The event attracted the participation of the Peru- India Parliamentary Friendship League and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Peru . In his speech , Ambassador Beraún highlighted the complementarity of social and economic ties that exist between both the countries , and brought attention to mutual concerns on issues such as education , science and technology .
The President of Peru , Mr . Ollanta Humala , sent a message highlighting the potential of our bilateral relations in many domains and the interest of Peru to take them to a higher level . The President of India , Mr . Pranab Mukherjee , also sent a message underscoring the rapid development of both countries and the similarities that the two Governments have in their policies of social inclusion and sustainability .
On his part , H . E . Mr . Manpreet Vohra , Ambassador of India to Peru , emphasized the rapid growth achieved by both nations in their respective regions , and invited H . E . Mr . Rafael Roncagliolo , Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru , to visit his country . Soon after the Indian diplomat called attention to the fact that bilateral trade had grown seven times in value
Celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru
in the past five years , surpassing US $ 1129 million in 2012 , resulting in a 35 % higher trade than the previous year .
The bilateral agreement creating the Centre of Excellence in Information Technology ( CEIT ) entered into force the day of the said event . The CEIT now functions at the National Telecommunications Research and Training Institute ( INICTEL ) of the National University of Engineering . Its objective is to train 600 students in information and communication technologies , with the support of India . Commemorative postage stamps were also designed and presented by SERPOST ( Peruvian Post ). •
