The Dialogue, which
has grown firmly in
scope and scale since
the fi rst edition in 2015,
brought together over
600 delegates from 93
countries, including
influential political
leaders, strategic thinkers,
policy practitioners,
technology innovators,
business representatives,
and academics on a
common platform where
they off ered their vision
and proposed solutions.
Global leaders like former British Prime Minister Tony
Blair, Ex-Italian Premier Paolo Gentiloni, Ex-Canadian Prime
Minister Stephen Harper, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl
Bildt, and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai along with
Foreign Ministers of Iran, Australia, Spain, Mongolia, Nepal
addressed the three-day conference.
The high level of participation ensured the Raisina
dialogue to emerge as another signifi cant Dialogue in Asia
after the Shangrila Dialogue held each year in Singapore;
where top policymakers make it a point to attend and
enunciate national policies of their governments. The Indian
Prime Minister was the Chief Guest during the Shangrila
Dialogue last year, where he made his famous speech on
inclusive Indo-Pacifi c. This theme was carried forward during
the Raisina Dialogue.

policy emphases of
the Narendra Modi
government and future
directions in the year 2019.
As the world, presently is
getting polarised between
US–Japan–Australia
camp and the Russia-
China camp; India has
fi nds itself being sought
by both the groups. In
this context, she talked
of a comprehensive and
energetic renewal of
India’s global engagements, which has been founded on the
motto of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ i.e. development for all
in partnership with all.
The Raisina Dialogue has now emerged as India’s fl agship
annual event organised jointly by India’s leading think tank
Observer Research Foundation in coordination with the
Ministry of External Aff airs.
