T
he Western state of Gujarat is
emerging as the powerhouse
of Indian economy through its
pragmatic investment policies aimed
at boosting the confi dence of investors
by pro-actively taking up reforms in
various sectors including overhauling
its industrial, Information Technology
and Tourism policies.
Several key policies which have
catalysed the economic progress in
Gujarat are as under:
Gujarat Industrial Policy 2015
The policy aims to create a conducive
environment for investment through
enhancing productivity through value
addition of raw material, research and
innovation and improving ease of doing
business in Gujarat.
The policy further seeks to promote
the startups for which it off ers many
sops from easy funding to creating
incubation and training centres. It aims
to simplify the tax system and facilitate
easy possession of land through creating
land banks and providing the quality
power to industry.
Job creation and skill development
remain as the centrepiece to the policy
by suggesting labour reform laws and
providing sector specifi c training to the
youths.
Moreover, it calls for an easy
streamlining of environmental clearance
for the industry apart from boosting
renewable energy sources including
solar and wind energy.

aim to create new markets apart from
generating employment and income
opportunities for the craftsperson.
It also eyes partnership with private
retail chains to open various market
