HD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a
conference on “Strengthening India-Europe Economic
Relations - Opportunities and Way Forward” on 5th
April 2019 at PHD House, New Delhi. The theme of the
Conference was to highlight the strong economic relations
between India and Europe and discuss ways to further
strengthen this relationship. The Conference highlighted
various initiatives undertaken by the Government of India
to promote India-EU partnership and deliberated on issues
and challenges of doing business in both India and Europe.
The Inaugural Session was presided over by Rajeev
Talwar, President, PHD Chamber and moderated by
Mohit Jain, Chairman-International Aff airs Committee for
Central Europe, PHD Chamber. In a welcome address to
the dignitaries, Talwar spoke about the growing economic
cooperation between India and Europe and while appreciating
the strong bilateral relations between India and the EU, he
emphasised on making the former an ideal place for setting up
defence manufacturing centres and research and development
units by foreign companies, given its huge market and trade
potential.
While addressing the Inaugural Session, H.E. Tomasz
Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India
congratulated PHD Chamber for organising this Conference
and appreciated the theme of the Conference. He said that the
trade between India and Europe could grow manifold with an
early conclusion of India-EU FTA and investment protection
agreement well in time. He also stated that trade facilitation
measures along with trade reforms for goods and services
coming to India from the EU should be promoted to make sure
