INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS TO INDIA
T
rouw Nutrition, a global leader in the animal nutrition
industry (with India offi ce in Hyderabad), has been
providing innovative animal feed specialties, premixes

Trouw recognises that the Indian Animal industry is
experiencing a demand growth but with limited resource

the gap between these struggling supplies and the surging
demand by creating innovative products in line with their
mission “Feeding the Future”.
Being Glocal
Safe food and feed is of utmost importance and the
programmes are developed in accordance to this requirement.
While Trouw’s Feed Safety Programme ensures the
preservation of nutrients and safe food and feed production
by reducing the risk of mycotoxins and mould content, the
Antimicrobial Programme provides an integrated approach
for responsible use of antibiotics, and enhance gut integrity for
effi cient animal production. “Responsible use of antibiotics
is a major issue for the Indian audience and with our globally
proven approach towards antibiotic-free farming, we can
make major leaps in this arena,” asserts Dr. Saurabh Shekhar,
Managing Director, Trouw Nutrition India.
Dr. Saurabh further adds that all the initiatives have
a Glocal approach, thus best of the global methods and
practices are being applied to provide solutions to the
existing challenges of Indian animal nutrition industry.
Trouw Nutrition India has also invested in a state-of-the-
art production facility at Jadcharla, around 70 km from
Hyderabad. With a total investment of around €6 million, the
production facility will cater to the local need of a world-class
premixing facility along with the manufacture of products for
safe feed and food production.
Dr. Saurabh adds that “Being Glocal also means that
our research is driven by the ground realities of the animal
nutrition industry and hence we have collaborations with
prominent Indian research institutions.”
Innovation and Sustainability
Innovation drives the company’s initiatives, which is
propelled by €47 million worth R&D undertaken at centres
in Canada, Spain and the Netherlands along with over 50
long term associations with global scientifi c institutes. With
innovation at its core, the key focus areas are - Life Start,
Health & Welfare, and Precision Nutrition. These focus
areas include products for young animals’ development &
nursery nutrition, promotion of reduced antibiotic usage
in animal rearing while providing nutritional solutions for
specifi c challenges, and feed additives for high-performance
& growth in animals.
Their commitment to innovation is refl ected in the recently
launched mobile NIR technique – NutriOpt On-site Adviser,
which enables easy on-site analysis of nutrients in raw
materials, fi nished feed and even silage. Other services like
NutriOpt, MycoMaster, FaaS and MasterLab further help in
quick and precise decision making for the feed millers and
integrators. NutriOpt provides an end-to-end and accurate
nutrient analysis to the stakeholders like the feed millers that
can help them achieve the precision goals, while MycoMaster
helps them to assess the presence of mycotoxins to support
health & welfare. The in-house research facility MasterLab
provides the platform to execute these services and provide
further analysis as per the requirement of the customers.
Trouw strictly adheres to its core of sustainable development
and has allied with United Nations’ Sustainability Programme
to develop Nuterra, the in-house comprehensive sustainability
programme contributing to eight of the UN’s Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) as well as with India-based
Baramati Agro for sustainable dairy development by training
and education of farmers. Each programme combines products,
services and technical know-how, and is tailor-made for specifi c
animal ensuring minimal wastage, long term storage for the
feed miller and safe meat, milk, and egg production with an
improved better shelf life for the end consumer.
