If you have the drive and desire to study at Monash but you don ’ t quite meet the requirements for entry into your desired course , the Diploma of Higher Education Studies can help you achieve your academic goals .

This one-year course is an alternative pathway to a Monash degree . It allows you to study first-year units in four of our schools – Arts and Social Sciences , Business , IT and Science – and upon your successful completion 1 , qualify for the second year of a chosen degree .

STREAMS You have eight degrees to choose from across four participating schools :

Arts and Social Sciences

• Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences

• Bachelor of Digital Media and Communication .

Business

• Bachelor of Business and Commerce .

Information Technology

• Bachelor of Computer Science

• Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science .

Science

• Bachelor of Science

• Bachelor of Food Science and Technology

• Bachelor of Medical Bioscience .

GRADUATE WITH TWO MONASH QUALIFICATIONS

Receive a Graduate Certificate in the Diploma of Higher Education Studies after successfully completing your first year of study , followed by a bachelor ’ s degree from your destination school when you graduate – both within the same duration required to complete your bachelor ’ s degree .

BUILD CRITICAL STUDY SKILLS

Develop important academic literacy skills such as strategic and critical reading in higher education , sound academic writing competencies and insight into the world of academic research .

Successfully complete your studies

Progress to the second year of the corresponding Monash degree

1 Pass each unit in the diploma and achieve the minimum average mark required for the destination course . Students are required to meet a minimum weighted average mark ( WAM ) of 50 to qualify for progression to the Arts and Social Sciences , Business and Science courses and a WAM of 60 for Information Technology .
