five-step process: lamination, trimming, testing, assembly, road testing, and finishing.
Lamination involves taking pre-cut carbon fiber rolls, which had been stored between two protective films in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment to safeguard the resin from drying out. These pre-cut raw material shapes are then laid upon molds, which ensure thermal expansion consistent with the curing phase, following a precise sequence and orientation. Layer upon layer is added to meet specific needs: for example, decorative pieces require two layers, while structural parts may require many more layers.
Trimming occurs after two quality checks in the autoclave cycle. Trimming is a manual process that finish the edges and create necessary drill holes, where the raw materials are transferred to ventilated booths to protect workers from inhaling resin dust.
Assembly involves placing body panels on a test frame to ensure fit. A tolerance of less than one millimeter is required to ensure gaps are uniform and consistent. A second check ensures all carbon fiber weave patterns are continuous and consistent. Once checks are completed, all body parts are sent for painting.
Road testing involves placing thick rubber protective covers to the body work to prevent damages or scratches from the road test, as well as ensure everything functions properly and no anomalies are present.
Finishing occurs after the road test. Experts first undertake a final aesthetic quality inspection that can take more than ten days to complete. If no issues are detected, final wheels are mounted, and the car is ready to be shipped.
