pull out a hat for sizing. Instead, Mario grabs a
conformador and places it on your head (see picture). This machine maps your head and creates a template from which the size of the hat is determined.
And, finally, there is the process by which the hat is made (see slideshow). As already mentioned, the material used is 100 percent hare hair. This material is cooled with water to soften the “gumming.” Hot steam is then applied to form the hat per order, with the crown being adapted through the use of
various forms that take the shape of cones (see photo). Once the crown is adapted, a hemp cord is tied to mark the “waist “of the hat and the hat is left to dry. An iron is then passed through the crown to mark the meetings and fix the
direction of hairstyle (important to maintaining and restoring the hat). Once again dry, the shape of the head will be fixed at the waist. And using a sharper template, the maker will mark the size of the brim (or wing) and cut off necessary excess.
But this is also only the beginning. A leather pad must be sewn into the hat, along with any chinstrap or piping or edging that has been ordered (or comes by default through the type of hat chosen). Once pieces are sewn, the lining is installed. And only then is the shaper template again used to iron the brim for the last time when the hat is almost completely dry. The hat will then be allowed to fully dry at room temperature. And when completely dry, it will then be stored in its container.
