UCA’s mission is to promote the social and economic development of Central Asia. UCA’s undergraduate programs are located in world-class residential campuses in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan, and Khorog, Tajikistan, near the Tien Shan and Pamir mountains. The locations were consciously selected so to offer “an internationally recognised standard of higher education and enabling the peoples of the region to preserve their rich cultural heritage as assets for the future.” By placing them on the historic Silk Road, UCA “hopes to be at the heart of the economic and intellectual transformation taking place in the region.”

Aga Khan Hospitals

The Aga Khan Health Services is organized in the form of national service companies. These companies work increasingly with government health services and other institutions to improve and build effective national health systems.

The primary health-care programs are designed “to reach vulnerable groups, especially rural and remote communities, and lower middle-income urban families.” The promotion of general health and disease prevention comprise the core of all programs. However, reproductive health, immunization, integrated management of childhood illnesses and adult health (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, selected cancers, and mental health) can be found in across operations.

AKHS complements its work in primary health care by offering curative services in institutions ranging from dispensaries through health centers and women's hospitals to full-service hospitals. The Aga Khan Health Services operates 325 health centers, dispensaries, and other community outlets. These operations handle approximately 1.2 million patient visits annually.

Aga Khan hospitals are located in Dar es Salaam, Hyderabad, Karachi, Karimabad, Kharadar, Khorog, Kisumu, Mombasa, Mumbai, and Nairobi.

Aga Khan Schools

Aga Khan Education Services (AKES) is one of the largest not-for-profit school systems in the developing world. AKES operates 200 pre-primary, primary, secondary, and higher-secondary schools and programs in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United Arab Emirates. Programs include affiliation with rigorous national curricula and international curricula such as the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International Education, and the Aga Khan University-Examination Board (AKU-EB) programs. The schools serve more than 89,500 students – 75 percent of which come from rural areas.

Aga Khan Academies

The Aga Khan Academies are a network of schools established in countries across South and Central Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The premise of the academies is to “concentrate substantial resources on those exceptional individuals – students and teachers – who have the potential to transform society.” It is their belief that “when provided with a world-class education, exceptional students from any background can achieve their significant potential and in so doing improve their lives, the lives of their families, their communities, their country and the world.”
