Great Barrier Reef Experiences Worst Summer On Record

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced the world is undergoing a rare global mass coral bleaching event impacting at least 53 countries. According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service/ECMWF, "The average global sea surface temperature has surpassed record-breaking 21°C (69.8°F) for more than 90 consecutive days since late January.. If global average temperatures could be 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2050, 99% of coral reefs will simply die.
