To speak about photography often means to speak about time, as photography has this ability to »freeze« time or aggregate it within one frame. Photography can actually show us how abstract the concept of time is. Through the use of a camera we can mould it to our specific needs - stretch it, compress it, make
it irrelevant or the crucial part of an image. Photographers love to play with time. The abstract field of two dimensional space of photography serves as an endless playground for any kind of personal vision. One of them is Shinichi Maruyama, a Japanese photographer based in New York, who works with almost unthinkable fractions of time, where the abstract shape of water is transformed into sculpture, and the human body into a kind of liquid state.
