After a lunch with traditional Creol meals
we continued the visiting of the cost of
the Island. What surprised us a lot was a
beach
with black volcanic sand in
Etange-Sale Les Bains. We barely could
not
walk on it because of the
temperature of the sand. Our feed was
almost burned so the only way was to run
as fast as possible.
The last attraction of this incredible day
was a place called The Gouffre - a lava
formation. This deep abyss in the coastal
rocks
creates
some
amazing
photographic opportunities as the sea
surges in and creates a churning mass of
waves and spray.

We enjoyed the day much and gained
new experiences and knowledge
about the island.
Discover two museums around the sea: one focused
on exotic fishes and another on sea turtles
On 15 th of February 2019 the teachers from the partner countries together with the
students from College Trois Mares visited two local museums.
Firstly, we had a chance to admire flora and fauna of the Aquarium de la Reunion in Saint-
Gilles-Les-Baines that was found in 2000 as the result of 10 years of work by three marine
biologists. The visit took us through all the different aquariums with five different zones
(volcanic sea beds and archway, artificial reef built on sunken ships, lagoon with natural
coral reef, underwater caves and the depths) which represent the various undersea
environment. We discovered a lot of fish species from Reunion such us: lionfish,
trig-
gerfish, lobster species, dozens of anthias fish, coral fish, octopus, species of stingray or
wrasse, clown fish, moray eels, sharks, etc. The guide gave us the detailed
ex-
planations about the diversity of the coral reefs and the fragility of this ecosystem, how the
fish are feed, how the tanks are cleaned and generally how Reunions marine
eco-
system functions.
