Valentia Lighthouse A standing stone in Valentia
There was a tour guide island who explained the fascinating history of the lighthouse to us . It was very exciting to know about the stones specially a standing stone in front of light house . We enjoyed the mind blowing sceneries , inspiring views and the island lifefrom the lighthousetower and it`s balcony . Thestanding stone was single , natural and unworked , deliberately set upright in a socket in the ground . This standing stone might be found from the Bronze Age ( 2000-700 BC ). Another interesting information we got about the formation of the slate which began it`s production since 19th century by the the breaking down of shale in the sea . The slates which areproduced , considered to be of very good quality and have been used as a roof covering at the Paris Opera and the London Parliament building . The quality of the stone was described by the principal , Killorglin Community college , Ireland .
