The 4th Primary School of Zographou, in Athens Greece
ACTIVITY 1 Hello everyone from " the cradle of civilization " as the historians say! We are a public
primary school situated in Athens, Greece with a student body of approximately 300 students and 25 teachers. The average class size is about 20 students in each classroom, which is equipped with a computer for use during the lessons. We also have a computer room including an interactive whiteboard for our Computer classes which are one hour a week for each grade, starting from first grade this year!
We try to have a variety of activities outdoors throughout the school year such as athletic tournaments, one day educational trips to interesting events, museums, and archeological sites as well! We have various on-campus activities after school on Fridays organized by the Parents Association such as Art, Theatre Arts, Music, and Dance lessons. Our school has also been creating and hosting Christmas and Easter Bazaars annually for the past eight years where our students create homemade handicrafts during their Art classes which are displayed and sold at these events in order to earn money to donate to less fortunate families that live in the area and need our help. Many of our students are also active and successful members in sports events, academic competitions, and historical holiday parades. Athens is a historical city which offers many sites to visit and cultural events abound! We try to take advantage of this as much as possible!
As for me, I am Mairi Karolina Rogkakou, an English Language teacher at the school. I have been teaching for more than 25 years, and I like taking part in European academic programs and learning from my students and colleagues at the same time! I studied English Language, Literature, and Theater at University, and I have a Master ' s degree in the teaching of the English language. I love encountering new cultures and sharing experiences and knowledge, something I try to instill in my students as well! I am very much looking forward to this new Etwinning project with all of you, and I hope to develop my own skills, as well as the students ', further! Good Luck to all of us in our new beginning!
