1 to 30th November 2013 Postmortem of Goa Government Websites ! (Coint from pg 10) page including director note, success stories etc. don’t work. It seems like a nonehappening department .There are only two news and event as on now. One in 2012 and one in 2013. Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary website Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary has comparatively properly placed information. It has a list of 21 vet dispensaries with just the names of places and doctors with photos but no contact information. Same holds good about information of 52 key village sub centers. When such incomplete information is provided all the time , bandwidth and money spent on the same becomes a sheer waste. Department of Civil Supplies Website If you click on the Department of Civil Supplies Website link on the state portal it says bad request or host name tp://www. goagrahak.nic.in/ . But the actual website link is http://www.goacivilsupplies.gov.in/ and no one looking after the state data portal has bothers to do the change which could take at the most half a minute. The website which opens up is like most other websites many links don’t work and there is hardly any substantial information. For eg. Click on tenders and you will get a blank page. North Goa Collectorate website Nort Goa collectorate website done by Goa Electronics Limited is one of the few websites in the Government which can be termed as working as they are expected to do. Updated information, working links, online services it everything almost comes in as a pleasant surprise. South Goa Collectorate website Designed by NIC some years back this website does host relevant updated information but is nowhere near to what the North Goa Collectorate website has on offer. The Department of Craftsman Training website The Department of Craftsman Training website is again static but the information here is updated and most importantly this is the only site after GMC where the website maintenance team is specifically mentioned and we know that there is someone there who is ready to take accountability of the contents. Goa Medical College Website GMC website too the info is static but the best part here is an online library where a lot of medical content is available for download and use. On the backdrop of the recent expose on blood checking being diverted towards private labs by GMC the blood test charge list of private hospitals added on the blood bank page looks a little conspicuous. Fire and emergency services website Fire and emergency services website is updated till date. The site also lists daily events list. Latest tenders etc. Government Colleges Pernem Government college has a website but it looks as though it is there for the sake of being there. Khandola and Quepem colleges do not have websites of their own. Health Department Website The website is static with no search facilities, no regularly updated contents. Usefulness to the citizen is as usual minimum. But data about schemes is available here. Here again the chronology is upside down. Info also is as minimum as possible for instance – there is information that there are two drug detoxination centers, but there is no contact information. Printing and stationer website This is a good Website with dynamic data and a lot of hands on and useful content. The information is searchable as well as appropriately updated. Panchayat Department website Another website by GEL, the Panchayat department website is also among the properly working ones with Dynamic Data and updated contents. And more importantly the information is in searchable format. Registrar of co-operative societies and Education Department are static but have useful information on them. While the GOA GAZETTEER DEPARTMENT designed by Goa Infortech Corporation has hardly any information to offer. The PWD website designed by C-DAC has road, Bridges, water supply, sewerages etc. statistics as on 31st March 2006. One thing we observed all through was that all the websites designed by Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited looked like they were designed by absolute novices. For instance the Public private partnership cell with its silly layout,Forest with its fancy interface and non working links, IPHB website are all designed by ITCGL with more focus on silly flash displays than contents and all have almost weird user interfaces. The website of pharmacy college is haphazard while that of Directorate of Vigilance, Govt of Goa - old fashioned with hardly any information on it. The high tech Department of science and technology has a low tech, old interface website. Some Data is there but it is rather difficult to access. The Transport Department website of which thousands have been spent as on now is also user unfriendly was giving lot of problem to open. There is dynamic data here but no help whatsoever. Captain of ports website has some static information but there are quite a few flaws. For instance the “ organizational flow chart [[link to be inserted]” tagging done during designing stil remains there for users to figure out what it is all about. In addition many important departments
