Mobile World Congress hails hybrid return
The GSMA , organiser of
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona has revealed more than 120,000 viewers accessed MWC21 content , with 20,000 delegates attending in person at the Fira Gran Via .
Mobile World Congress was the first major European trade show and conference to cancel at the start of the pandemic in 2020 so it was fitting that MWC21 Barcelona was one of the first to resume in-person and online from 28 June to 1 July .
During the four-day event , delegates from 117 countries and territories attended in-person , with this reach increased to 165 when including those present online .
The GSMA noted more than half of attendees were directors with 1,500 c-suite executives among those physically present . More than 1,000 companies backed the show covering exhibitors , sponsors and partners .
“ The pandemic has indelibly changed how we gather . We had to develop new health and safety protocols and a hybrid platform but , we did it ,” GSMA director general Mats Granryd said . “ MWC21 created momentum and is helping us reimagine what events look like .”
Alongside releasing official figures for MWC21 Barcelona , the organiser has confirmed its 2022 outing will return to its traditional time of year , with the conference set for 28 February to 3 March .
EN Partners with Hubilo
Exhibition News , sister publication to Digital Event News and part of the Mash Media publishing stable , has partnered with the platform Hubilo .
The partnership will see Hubilo create hybrid solutions for EN products such as its awards programme and webinar series .

V-EX creates carbon neutral virtual venue
Virtual exhibition platform , V-EX has launched the Sustainability Event Park , a carbon neutral virtual 3D venue .
The first event to be announced in the online park is the Sustainable Packaging News ( SPN ) Exhibition , Conference and Awards series , which kicks-off from January 2022 .
