Joining forces and skill-sets to create a multifunctional studio

Showcase ’ s Dave Harding-Lyle discusses building virtual studio space for organiser , Hyve

Sometimes adversity can bring positivity and that ’ s what happened to Showcase and Hyve .

Hyve realised at an early stage that virtual and hybrid ( when allowed ) were the way forward and we knew that if they remained true to our core values : to create the most engaging event experience and environment , then the result would be positive .
We joined forces with Hyve during this uncertain time to create some truly impressive digital events ; so impressive that one day Showcase received a call from Hyve asking us to create its inaugural multifunctional studio space at its London studios .
What prompted this call was the fact that Hyve had expanded its digital events portfolio and realised that having its own studio would be more efficient , flexible and cost effective . It needed to join forces with a company that matched its vision .
It was a huge compliment to be asked to create and deliver this studio . It could have gone to a number of organisations but Hyve chose us . This is a true sign that our professional relationship with Hyve is stronger than ever and we look forward to it continuing .
The two parties worked together to plan and transform the existing office space into a ‘ ready to go live ’ production studio . We created 3D renderings and full technical plans to allow Hyve to visualise and sign-off , before building the studio . Showcase is a firm believer in a good rendering ; from artist drawings to

computer-aided designs , they communicate ideas clearly and precisely .
Both companies also worked together on the specification and procurement of new and installed equipment . Technically , Showcase provided the correct infrastructure to allow remote connections to all other offices around the world . This studio , with its state-ofthe-art PTZ cameras and a dedicated server storage , is now the hub of Hyve ’ s omnichannel evolution , as well as being the host studio for HyveTV . The

server has full secure remote access allowing the team to access it from anywhere .
Space was an issue , it needed to be maximised for the green screen and podcast studio , as well as being able to accommodate a panel up to eight and have space for up to 30 . Bring on Showcase ’ s space planning expertise and our design ability . We provided a full RGB colour selection on all the feature lighting and the inclusion of two large light box windows as part of the set .
The studio also needed the ability to change to the multiple brands that sit under Hyve Group PLC , We achieved this by creating a front desk that could be easily rebranded .
This project is a true testimony of two companies working together with one shared vision .
Hyve`s group head of video and new media , Ryan Hopkins , told us : “ It was a long and collaborative process , but with Showcase ’ s help and expertise , we ’ ve been able to create a versatile space where we ’ ll be able to produce a wide range of high quality content . This flexibility , paired with the cutting-edge tech running behind the scenes , has made it so we ’ re really only limited by what we can imagine .”
