A medical metaverse
Vivactis Hyperfair unveils its virtual hospital for non-invasive healthcare training
Vivactis Hyperfair has launched a ‘ medical metaverse ’ for healthcare professionals to train , learn and treat real-world clinical cases in a virtual hospital world .
The Vivactis Health Square features customisable , modular and fully-equipped gamification so that organisers can select different equipment , medical staff and patient profiles to create a raft of training scenarios .
The virtual 3D medical gamification platform helps participants to follow their progress , challenges them on specific cases , while letting them discover medical references as well as patient or disease related information .
Clinical cases are made of several steps , such as theoretical questions and decisions regarding tests to run , treatments prescribed or specific medical information to look for , which help users make their final diagnosis . Participants can treat patients as individuals or on a team , and are able to join virtual meetings for discussion and debriefing after each challenge .
A virtual roof-top auditorium has also been added to the hospital , where experts can host training or lectures . This area can also be gamified , making it a celebratory zone , only available to participant avatars who have completed their patient cases so that they can receive their accreditation certification , have a celebratory dance and watch a virtual fireworks display .
To create extra challenges in the Health Square gaming platform , a time limit can be set , forcing participants to solve against the clock with extra time awarded for answering questions along the way . The virtual platform
is multi-lingual , supporting participants in English , French , and Dutch .
In the UK , the Vivactis Health Square platform roll-out is being managed by The Virtual Event Company ( TVEC ).
John Saunders , CEO of TVEC said : “ It ’ s fun , easy and intuitive to use , plus it helps learning by doing . Participants can take notes , join a meeting room for discussion , or debrief in a more didactic way during or at the end of the session . We ’ re really excited to bring gamification in medical education to the market and make learning more engaging , through resolving virtual patient cases in the Health Square metaverse .”
Vivactis Group acquired Brussels-based virtual exhibition supplier , Hyperfair in January 2020 with a view to developing virtual products for the healthcare , pharmaceutical and medical sectors .
Stephane Schor , managing partner at Vivactis Hyperfair told Digital Event News : “ Surgeons and physicians have tested the system and they ’ re really impressed by , not only the fully equipped surgical rooms but also the non-invasive way in which they can learn and following complicated and technical procedures under true medical conditions .
“ This is the first new product in the Hyperfair range . We ’ ll also be launching a permanent virtual showroom concept for product demonstrations and sales later in the year . All these products will be browserbased , available across desktop and mobile without the need to download an app . I don ’ t believe that physicians or older users want to learn while wearing a VR headset . That ’ s the difference in opinion between Meta and I . Time will tell which of us is correct .”
