Three tips for virtual event organisers
1 . If your event was originally a live event , I don ’ t see any reason why you shouldn ’ t add a virtual component and make your event hybrid . When clients hear this , one of the first things they ask is : “ won ’ t the virtual component cannibalise by live event ?” The answer is a resounding no .
If you only offer an option to attend a physical event , you ’ re leaving out a large segment of your prospect universe that won ’ t get to see any of that content or engage with any of those attendees . You ’ re missing an opportunity to extend your reach to a global audience that you were never in front of before .
2 . Next , as we know , a hybrid event is a physical event that has a portion or the entire content program available online . What I see many people do is try to segment their audiences and market the live part of their event to one segment and the virtual part another segment . When choosing to go hybrid you have change that thinking , it ’ s one single event and should be promoted to your entire universe as a single event . Both virtual and physical attendees should have the same experience no matter how they attend your event .
3 . Lastly , one huge benefit to consider when thinking about hybrid is the larger visibility you ’ ll give to your sponsors and additional revenue stream you ’ ll create for yourself . Adding a virtual component to your physical event will provide you with more monetizable assets for your sponsors , more speaking opportunities and the ability to combine assets in the virtual and physical portions of your event to give them exposure to a wider audience .
