Virtually new ?

Call them what you will , online , digital , or virtual : the concept is not new . Events have been taking place online for quite a while , and with many examples essentially following the TV show model , you could even say they have been around for the best part of a century .

What is new , however , is a change in client expectation . Digital events have , until now , lived in the shadow of the live experience . However , Covid-19 has given them a platform , if you will pardon the pun , and now it is likely that they will become a mainstay of event strategy to achieve a business objective .
For hundreds of years the only way to get news was through a printed newspaper . Since the mid-nineties and rise of the internet , news can be consumed across multiple channels : there is no one way . The same will be true for events . The live experience will return , and likely be stronger than previously , but now there are more
