life of the sperm and facilitating sperm motility. 126 These processes create, in a sense, a
physiological dialogue, wherein the mucus communicates approaching ovulation, and the sperm
responds to and benefits from mucus receptivity.
Creation and Communion
These events reveal the marvellous design of God’s plan for the spouses as participators
in the divine process of generating new life. The signs of fertility, easily read in the language of a
woman’s body, offer the couple a window into the mystery of creation and point to the invisible
reality of God’s self-revelation. This perfect design, this manifestation of the divine glory,
expresses through the visible body the two-fold gift of creation and communion. The profundity
