Through the synkrisis of the blood of Christ and the blood of Abel, the author of Hebrews arguably pointed to the ability of Christ to achieve the triumph of love in the face of sin and evil, something desired by all righteous individuals since Abel, but achievable only through the blood of Christ. As such, the writer of Hebrews has used the LXX rendering of Gen 4:1-16 to illustrate the limitations of humanity, the power of Christ, and the breadth of his victory over sin and death. It might be argued that, through the Eucharist, the Blood of Christ comes to speak from us for mercy in the same way that the blood of Abel spoke from the ground which received it.
