Then Abel came also bringing firstling sheep and their fat portions. And the Lord gazed towards
Abel and his offering.
4:5
‫ת‬ ‫ת‬ ‫־‬ ‫־‬ ‫ויא‬ ‫־‬ ִ֖‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ‫י‬ ‫תב‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫׃‬ ‫א‬ ‫־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ַ‫א‬ ‫וי‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ַ ‫תה‬ ‫ו‬ ֶַ ‫י‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ִֶ ֹ֣ ‫־‬ ‫א־‬ ‫׃‬ ‫א‬ ‫ת‬ ‫א‬ ָֽ ִ֖ ‫ַ־‬ ‫תה‬ ‫ת‬ ‫י‬ ‫ת‬ ‫׃ה‬ ‫יה‬ ‫א‬ ‫וי‬ ‫י‬ ִ֥ ֶ ‫ת‬ ‫׃ה‬ ‫יה‬
But towards Cain and towards his offering he did not gaze, and Cain burned with anger and his
face fell.
4:6
‫תוָא‬ ‫־ת‬ ‫ה‬ ‫׃‬ ‫־‬ ִ֥‫ת‬ ‫ת־׃ה‬ ֶ ‫ִ֖ל־‬ ‫ת־‬ ‫יה‬ ‫ל‬ ‫ת‬ ‫־־‬ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫־‬ ַ ‫־‬ ֶ ‫ל־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫־מ‬ ‫י‬ ִ ‫־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫א׃ה‬ ‫וי‬ ִֶ֖ ‫ֶי־‬ ‫וה‬ ‫ו‬ ‫׃תה‬ ‫א‬ ִ֥ ‫י‬ ֶ
Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Why did you burn with anger and why did your face fall?
4:7
‫אא‬ ֥ ‫ת‬ ‫ת‬ ‫א־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ‫מ‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫מ‬ ִ֖ ‫־‬ ֶ‫׃‬ ‫יה‬ ‫א‬ ָֽ ‫־‬ ‫־י־‬ ‫א‬ ‫מ‬ ‫ה‬ ַָ‫ו‬ ‫ת‬ ַ‫ה‬ ֵּ֣‫׃‬ ‫יה‬ ‫ִמ‬ ֵּ֣ ‫וא‬ ָֽ‫׃‬ ָּ֣ ‫־‬ ֶַ ַ ִֶָֽ֖ ‫ה‬ ‫ת‬ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫י‬ ‫־‬ ‫ו‬ ֵָּֽ֣ ‫׃‬ ‫א‬ ‫ת‬ ַ‫ו‬ ‫׃‬ ‫י‬ ‫יה‬ ָֽ ‫׃‬ ֵּ֣ ‫־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ַ ‫ו‬ ‫י‬ ‫ו‬ ֵּ֣‫מ‬ ‫ו‬ ‫׃‬ ‫י‬ ‫א׃‬ ‫ֶהת‬
If you do well you will be lifted up, and if not, sin lies down at the door and longs for you, but
you must rule over it.
4:8
‫תֶ־א‬ ‫א‬ ֵּ֣ ‫ו‬ ‫ה‬ ֶֶֶ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫וי‬ ַ ִ֖ ‫י‬ ‫׃־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ֶ ִ֥ ‫ה‬ ‫ת‬ ‫׃ה‬ ‫א‬ ‫וי‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫ִ֥בי־‬ ‫־‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫ה‬ ‫־‬ ‫־‬ ֶ֥ ‫ו‬ ָֽ‫וא‬
‫ֶה‬ ‫֥י‬ ַ‫ו‬ ‫ֶי‬ ‫תבוה‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫וי‬ ַ ִ ‫י‬ ‫׃־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ֶ ‫ה‬ ‫ת‬ ‫׃ה‬ ‫א‬ ‫וי‬ ‫י‬ ִ֖ ֶ ‫ו‬ ‫׃תה‬ ‫א‬ ִ֥ ‫י‬ ֶ
And Cain spoke to his brother Abel, and it came to be that they were in the field, and Cain rose
up against his brother Abel and killed him.
4:9
‫וא‬ ‫ֹי‬ ‫ת‬ ‫א‬ ‫ת‬ ‫׃־‬ ‫ו‬ ַ ִ֖ ‫י‬ ‫׃־‬ ‫ו‬ ‫ת‬ ִ֥ ֵּ֣ ‫ֶהאא‬ ‫ו‬ ‫מ‬ ‫י‬ ‫ֹ֣ה‬ ‫־ו‬ ֶ ‫־‬ ‫ו‬ ‫׃‬ ‫א‬ ‫ת‬ ַ‫ו‬ ‫׃תה‬ ‫א‬ ַ ‫י‬ ֶ ָ‫ו‬ ַ ִ ‫י‬ ‫׃־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫ה‬ ֶ ‫ה‬ ‫ו‬ ‫׃‬ ִ֖ ֵּ֣ ‫א‬ ‫וי‬ ‫י‬ ֶ ‫־‬ ‫ת‬ ‫׃ה‬ ֶַ‫ֶי־‬ ‫וה‬ ‫ו‬ ‫׃תה‬ ‫א‬ ‫י‬ ֶ
Then the Lord said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’ And Cain said, ‘I do now know. Am I
my brother’s carer?’
