observatories for star gazers and Nelson’s Monument. The Meadows is another part of the City of Edinburgh where people can escape the city life, residing within the hub of the city the meadows is a large expanse of greenspace open to the public. The Meadows are used for a wide variety of applications giving people the opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves any which way they want too, they offer sports facilities such as tennis courts in the east, golf (putting) is also available in the west of the meadows, as are bowling greens. In the summer especially, the meadows are commonplace for football and cricket matches. By having such a large useful expanse of unused ground in the centre of the city people can come here to

soak up the sun in the summer, take their dogs a walk, do some light sport, have a barbeque, relax with friends or just have a walk along its lengthy tree-lined paths and forget the city that surrounds you. These public spaces are the main reason why Edinburgh is such a fantastic place to live and work, as most of the time you have this nature around you, you stop stressing and just enjoy whats on offer, you can escape from the city, within the city.
