This is one of our student curators (March 2016) beside her
grandmother (December 1945) who was also a UBC student.
One of these students said this:
“Everyone wears sweaters and some comfortable pants as
they’re usually biking or running to get to class. I usually have
my hair in a ponytail and wear my Kappa Kappa Gamma key
necklace.”
Does this sound like the campus fashion of 1945 or 2016?

WHY THUNDERBIRDS?
Thunderbirds was chosen by the staff of the Ubyssey newspaper
and the Pep Club following two polls of the student body in 1934.
In 1948, in an effort to make UBC a more welcoming and inclusive
space for First Nations students, Kwakwaka’wakw

Scow and the Neel family gifted their Thunderbird and the Victory
Through Honour Pole to the Alma Mater Society.
Since 1934, both UBC sports teams and students have worn
clothing with different representations of the Thunderbird.
