Visit the Carteret County Courthouse, the oldest wood-framed courthouse in North Carolina. The building which had been modified as a family residence for over 100 years, has undergone award-winning restoration back to its original design, and serves as the backdrop and integral tool for educating today’ s youth about the early American legal system.

Located on the 400 block of Ann Street in Beaufort’ s historic district, the town’ s oldest cemetery holds fascinating stories about Beaufort’ s 300-year-old history.
