WORK-LIFE BALANCE
This Is Who We Are:
People First, Always
BY: JILL GORMLEY,
HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
As We Change And Grow, We Stay Focused On Building A
Culture That Allows For Work-Life Balance And Puts Service Before Self.
W
ork-life balance is an
ongoing conversation
at Deeley Insurance
Group, but it’s more
than talk. “Bring Your
Whole Self” is one of our core values
because we recognize employees have
both a professional and a personal life,
giving their energy and time to us while
they are here. They invest in us by being
present and passionate about what
we want to accomplish. So as a business,
we’re committed to giving them flexibility
to manage their personal lives when and
how they need.
Here is how we do it. We hope these ideas
inspire you!
BE FLEXIBLE
Flexibility gives people peace of mind.
If they know they can leave early to attend
their children’s activities or arrive later
one morning because they have a doctor’s
appointment, they come to work with
a higher level of focus.
Our employees take breaks when they
need it—a departure from the traditional
15-minute breaks in the morning and
afternoon. So, if they need to take a phone
call from a family member, they don’t
have to wait. They can take that call, then
move on with their day.
GIVE BACK
Our team is passionate about making
a positive impact in our communities.
We give employees the freedom through
30
Deeley Serves to earn volunteer hours—for
every two hours they volunteer of their
own time, they can earn one hour
of workday time for the following year.
Team members can accrue up to eight paid
hours of volunteer time per year so they
can continue giving back to the causes
they care about. Volunteering helps build
a culture of service. And service is at the
heart of everything we do.
CREATE POSITIVE ENERGY
You can feel it as soon as you enter our
office. The bright colors and vibrant
artwork throughout our building create a
friendly, welcoming atmosphere. There’s
a tangible energy here because of the
relationships our employees have with
each other, the support we lend to one
another, and our drive to succeed and
do better every day.
This energy is intentional, and
we continue to build a positive culture
through various efforts. One of those
is our Morale & Motivation (M&M)
committee. Employees help plan workday
and after-hours events and spearhead
new quality-of-life initiatives to make
office life and home life even better.
LEARNING AND GROWING TOGETHER
Giving people ways to grow their
knowledge empowers them to succeed.
When people have a vision for how
far they can go, they are motivated to
develop personally and professionally.
We provide support and resources,
investing in the education of our
people so they can take their skills
to the next level.
ALIGNING TALENT
Adopting a collaborative interview
process helps determine whether an
applicant’s values align with ours.
It isn’t just about the job. Candidates
interview across multiple departments,
and we select individuals who expand
our potential and add something unique
to our culture. When we find the right
people, we carve a place for them.
PUTTING OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD
Deeley Insurance Group is consistently
recognized as a Best Place to Work
in Insurance. We learn, we grow,
we give back—and we are tremendously
proud of that. +
