Spring Training Camp 2014
Earlier this year I visited a hotel in Italy to get a solid block of training in before the
season began. I wanted to escape the Northern European winter and chose this
location as it had
a fleet of bikes to
hire, a 20m pool, a
400m track and was
right on the beach
for open water
swimming. I loved it
returning a lot fitter
and stronger.
It struck me that it
would make an ideal
location for a spring
training camp so am
planning 2 weeks in
March or April that
will include a female
only week and be
very cost effective. A qualified BTF coach wilol be in attendance and I might even be
able to persuade an Ironman champion to come and train with you. If you think you
might be interested then please send an email to [email protected] and I
will make sure you are the first to know.
IRONMAN WALES 2013
I was mesmerised the moment I arrived in Tenby, a small town 90 mins west of
Cardiff, bordering the Atlantic ocean. It is quaint yet alive with tourists even before
Ironman arrives in September. 1800 hundred athletes, 500 volunteers, race officials
descend upon it - the town is positively breathing Triathlon. Everywhere you look you
see part of the spectacle, from shops hanging banners to Ironman rucksacks and
clothing. It is quite magical being so intimate.
This intimacy of the venue hides the fact that this course is nothing short of brutal.
Hilly, sometimes wet, cold with a sea swim and 1km run to T1 making this a
formidable race that will quickly show up those who have not put the training in. The
following pages document the race through my eyes. I \?H?[\\?Y][??X?B?]?HY]Y??\?]X?\?H???X?H??[Y]?]Z[?[??H??H?H^K???
