Root Canal Treatment?
When is root canal treatment chosen?
The deep layer of the tooth is called the pulp. When your dentist finds that this
pulp has become infected, damaged, or is completely dead, he will ask you to
undergo root canal treatment. In this case, only the pulp is removed while the
rest of the tooth remains intact.
What happens during the procedure?
The dentist gives you local anesthesia, removes the pulp, and cleans the
infected part of the tooth. Gutta-percha is the replacement of the pulp, which is
placed under the tooth to make it function like before. Post root canal,
medications are given and recovery happens in due course.
