History of the College of Engineers
The College of Engineers of Venezuela has a glorious tradition dating back to the years of Independence and whose highest representative is Antonio José de Sucre, the Grand Marshal of Ayacucho, and the Corps of Military Engineers who with it embraced the republican cause. Then he will come to join another of the great Venezuelan glories in the field of mathematics science. Juan Manuel Cajigal, first president of the College and founder of the famous Academy from which the first engineers trained in the Republic graduated: names as exempt as those of Rafael María Baralt, pride of the Letters of America; Manuel María Urbaneja, Olegario Meneses, Juan José Aguerrevere, make up the first promotion of young posts under the protection of the wise Cajigal. Other promotions will continue on whose shoulders the enormous task of physically building a nation under the worst conditions of a war-torn Venezuela is mired in misery.
