In an effort to make sure everyone gets their turkey dinner , Dickinson Hall is hosting a Turkey Dinner : Dash & Dine drive thru featuring turkey , stuffing and all the sides - even pie ! - made fresh by AOK Gourmet , the same caterer who annually prepares Dickinson Hall ’ s Thanksgiving feast ! Place your order and simply drive up to Dickinson Hall to pick up your festive dinner ! If transportation is an issue , please mention this when placing your order . Virtual Holiday Concert
Thursday , December 3 , 2:00 pm Attend via Zoom or view in-person at Dickinson Hall FREE for Members /$ 5 for Non-Members December is here , and with it comes the Holidays ! Whichever holiday you celebrate , Jim Kendros will bring you the perfect accompaniment to enhance the feelings of this wondrous time of year ! Performing on the piano and rare string instruments , he will offer a special concert of Holiday favorites , played with his own brand of expressive beauty and mystical enchantment ! Jim will also offer us light classical favorites perfect for the Holidays , with the special magical charm that he is famous for . Let ’ s celebrate !
Manager ’ s Note
Happy Holidays from all of us at Dickinson Hall !
It ’ s hard to believe that I have been the manager here at Dickinson Hall for one year . One year doesn ’ t sound long but , it feels like an eternity to me . Much of this time has been spent away from all of you . It is very difficult to understand how each of you are doing , what you ’ re feeling , and how you ’ re getting on without actually seeing you ! Not seeing you all regularly has highlighted what I am most grateful for this holiday season , all of you . I am so grateful that you have all learned , right alongside with us , how to utilize and continue to participate at your new virtual senior center . The support you have all shown throughout this difficult time is humbling and it continues to inspire us to find new ways to meet you and your community ’ s needs .
While this is the time of year for family and friends , this year may look a little different . We may not be able to have our big family gatherings and it may feel harder to find things to be thankful for . But we are stronger for what we are going through and we will come out better for it .
In spite of all of this , I ’ m inviting you to welcome and hold on to the hope for the New Year . We need to remind ourselves that this is just one holiday season in a collection of many holidays in our lives . These not-so-perfect-holidays will only make the next ones sweeter and create a new found attitude of gratitude for all the small things that we ’ re missing . We will once again find our families in our arms , in our homes , and at our tables . In the meantime , I ’ m hoping you ’ ll join me in the act of hoping .
To help inspire hope and maybe a little distraction from this ‘ weird ’ holiday season , Dickinson Hall has made it a point to offer some option of programming most days of the week . We ’ re hoping that you will find something that helps you connect with individuals of similar situations this winter . We will have a Turkey Dinner : Dash & Dine to make sure that everyone has a little turkey dinner since we can ’ t be together , a Poinsettia-gram where you can purchase a 4 ” poinsettia to send for a little pick-me-up this season , and a whole lot of fun and interesting lectures and concerts , a little something for everyone ! And if you ’ re just getting interested in all these virtual options , don ’ t forget you can attend a virtual lecture here at Dickinson Hall . We are here for support and connection , in any way we can !

A note about future programming Throughout this transition from a traditional senior center , to a totally virtual center , to what we can now call a hybrid senior center , we have offered our virtual lectures for free . We feel it is an important responsibility to offer our members and seniors in our community an outlet during this difficult time . This free programming was made possible due to the generosity of our members and lecture participants . We cannot thank you enough for believing in our new process ! With the start of the new year , we have decided to implement a fee for our programming . We hope that you continue to find value in this new way of programming .
