Sandra Wilson - Pin Up FabO!
" If I could offer any advice to those who desire any type of modeling career, it is to find your special place. It may be runway, pinup, styling, makeup or hair. The most important is to find what you are the best at and put all your heart into it! It is just as important to research and practice. You must research the era. Study photos, movies, and poses. I cannot tell you how many hours I have put into practicing poses in the mirror. Also, find your best looks. Don’t let the camera find them. You must know them for yourself. What angle does your face need to be to look the best? The way your body looks when you sit, stand, point your toes, or anything else you do in front of the camera. You need to be the one to direct your body for any shoot. Know what you want to look like and make it happen. "
" I was invited to a classic car show where there was a pinup contest. A photographer friend invited me and thought I might be pretty good at it. He said I already had such a classic look. So, I thought what the heck! I had no idea what I was doing. But, from all my years of watching the classic movies, I kind of knew what I wanted to look like. Yep, I was an old movie junky and loved to watch the musicals and practice the choreography. I research the makeup and the hair and put my hands to it! I marched my butt up on stage and won 2nd place! I was thinking what in the world? The must just feel sorry for me or something….but as I went out in the crowd, they began to tell me that they had never seen such class. They stated that most pinup models are not authentic and don’t understand the classics. I was floored! "
" .I can honestly say that what has made me successful is being ready for the camera. Photographers love to work with me because I come to set with a plan. I have every piece of wardrobe laid out and ready. I have a vision for what I want the scene to look like and the emotion I want to evoke. When I am in front of the camera, it is my time to take advantage of my theater degree. I become someone totally different than who I am. I put on the persona and everything about me is that 1940’s dame. "
