FOR YOUR INFORMATION Dr. David Finkelstein Named as Complaints Director Dr. David Finkelstein has assumed the role of Complaints Director/Associate Registrar at the College as we continue to improve our complaints process. In this new role, Dr. Finkelstein will oversee the review of new complaints to understand the issues and concerns of the complainant as well as the rights and responsibilities of the member physicians. In so doing, he will facilitate the triage of complaints to a resolution or to an investigative process. Dr. Finkelstein has been a Medical Advisor with the CPSO since November 2018. Prior to that, he practised Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, and still does so part time. He is also a consultant in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery to the Canadian Armed Forces. He has had many leadership positions at Southlake, including Chief of Surgery and Physician Leader of Quality and Patient Safety. Prior to being a Medical Advisor at the CPSO, Dr. Finkelstein, was, for many years, involved in the Quality Management Division, including being Network Lead Assessor for his specialty. The College Welcomes Two New Medical Advisors Dr. Mary Manno Dr. Manno has practised comprehensive family medicine in Oakville for more than 30 years, assuming various administrative roles at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Her interest in medical education and quality improvement has led to teaching of medical students and residents and mentoring of practising physicians in association with McMaster University, University of Toronto, the Ontario College of Family Physicians and Health Quality Ontario. Dr. Manno has been involved with the CPSO over the years as a criterion physician for the original PREP programme and Medical Inspector in various investigations. Dr. Ted Everson Dr. Everson completed his FRCPC in Emergency Medicine at Western University in 2003 and has been practising adult and pediatric emergency medicine since that time at academic, community and community-academic settings. Since 2009, Dr. Everson has been the Medical Director/Physician Lead in the Emergency Medicine Program at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga. This position has included experience with medical quality of care evaluation and improvement, emergency department operations and patient flow initiatives. In addition, Dr. Everson has a primary care practice in Mississauga providing comprehensive family medicine and HIV primary care within an FHO model. Dr. Everson has had an interest in medical malpractice case review and provides medical expert opinions particularly for cases involving both hospital and outpatient based care concerns. Dr. Everson completed the Osgoode Certificate in Health Law, Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 2019. 30 DIALOGUE ISSUE 3, 2019
