Consultations Tell us what you think! Your feedback helps create a better informed product. That is why consultation and engagement with the profession is such a crucial part of getting it right. We encourage you to add your voice to the conversation at www.cpso.on.ca, under the heading “Consultations”. Policies Under Review The Practice Management Considerations for Physicians Who Cease to Practise, Take an Extended Leave of Absence or Close Their Practice Due to Relocation policy sets out expectations for physicians with respect to the practice management measures they should take before they cease practising or where they will not be practising for an extended period of time. The Test Results Management policy sets out expectations for physicians regarding the management of all types of test results, including expectations with respect to developing and maintaining an effective system for managing test results, and expectations with respect to following up on test results appropriately. The Re-entering Practice policy sets out expectations for Ontario doctors who wish to reenter practice after a prolonged absence and the requirements to demonstrate their competency. Standards Under Review The College is also seeking feedback on draft amendments to the Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program (OHPIP) Standards that, if passed, would enhance the responsibility and accountability of the Medical Director, and address matters concerning quality assurance, infection control and staff qualifications. New Policy Development By-law Amendments for Register Content The College is in the process of developing a Continuity of Care policy. As a part of this development process, we expect to explore a number of issues including, after-hours care, information exchange between health-care providers, physician availability to other health-care professionals, and walk-in clinics. The proposed amendments fall into two main categories: revisions intended to better reflect current College practices, and corrections and minor improvements of a housekeeping nature. These amendments do not propose new information to be posted; they reflect information that is already included on the register. The deadline for feedback is August 12, 2016. www.cpso.on.ca Issue 2, 2016 Dialogue Issue2_16.indd 27 27 2016-06-16 12:27 PM
