The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is the licensing and regulatory body governing the practice of medicine in Ontario. The College is responsible for setting and maintaining medical standards, licensing physicians, investigating complaints about physicians on behalf of the public, and disciplining doctors found to have committed act(s) of professional misconduct. Features 9 Physician-Assisted Death Guidance As the federal government rushes to meet a June 6th deadline to have physician-assisted death legislation in place, the College has stepped in to provide physicians with guidance about their obligations to patients in the interim. The policy itself is also included in this issue. 20 Expanding Access to Naloxone We’ve changed College policy in order to permit physicians to prescribe naloxone for inclusion in opioid overdose emergency kits.
