Clinical Connection
The First Year Students begin
going to their clinical sites!
My first day of clinicals was a very valued experience. I came into the day with super
nervous energy. This was to be expected, but I kept an open mind, despite the nerves.
As soon as I got there, one of my techs had printed a copy of their site’s protocols
for me to review and familiarize myself with. I found this super helpful. Both of the
ultrasound technologists I worked with were very nice and extremely helpful. I got
my hand on a probe the very first day, and they let me help out with getting patients,
observing and practicing the process of the exams and how they did things there. I
got to see a lot of things I have not yet experienced and learned a lot on my very first
day. Any questions I had, they were happy to answer, and I feel confident that this
will be an awesome opportunity to be there as well as a great learning environment
for myself and others in our program. Once the day was over, I realized the nerves
were normal and that I will adjust and learn a lot there. I can’t wait to see what this
opportunity has in store for me!

New Year, New Semester, and the First Day of Clinicals...
The day we have all heard about finally came. It was the 1st day of clinicals. I was a
nervous wreck! I didn’t sleep well the night before, because I had so much on my
mind. The sonographers at my site were very nice, which took away some of my
nervousness. Then after observing the first patient, they asked me if I wanted to scan
the next patient. Back to being a nervous wreck! After scanning the patient for a
couple of minutes, I went and got the sonographer to finish up. After the first day of
clinicals was over, I was no longer nervous, I learned quite a bit and I look forward to
going back!
