2 . NOT PICKING A SPECIFIC TARGET :
The practice range is a wide place . Day after day , I see so many golfers never pick out a specific target . While doing so , they hit the same club repeatedly . A couple of ways to improve in this area is to first “ play a round of golf on the range ”. Pick a specific target and hit a tee shot , then another target and hit an approach shot . Follow this up with another target for a short wedge shot , while doing this never hitting the same shot two times in a row . This simulates what you would do during a round of golf . While rotating targets during this process , do not just pick shots to hit with clubs you feel confident with . Choose clubs and shots you feel are the weakness in your game . Doing both things while using specific targets can really help you improve and gain confidence on the course .
3 . GET A LARGE BUCKET OF BALLS AND HIT THEM ALL TOO QUICKLY :
I am still amazed when I see someone walk up to the range machine , get a large bucket and return in 30 minutes to get another large bucket . A large bucket of balls typically has 90 balls in it . This is a suitable number of balls for a full practice session and should last you about an hour . We have already highlighted two areas that should motivate you to take your time when you practice . One way to accomplish this is to value “ quality over quantity ” with each practice shot . Hitting balls as fast as you can is never a receipt for success . Taking your time to focus on making a quality set up and swing , can really help you improve faster .
To make the most of your range practice sessions , start by making these three practice range corrections . Practice with a Purpose to lower your scores .
