Set in 300 acres of historic Hertfordshire parkland and open countryside, only 18 miles from central London, The Grove, is the former home of the Earls of Clarendon and was used by Queen Victoria. More than just a five-star hotel, it has been lovingly restored to stunning effect, fusing contemporary design and original period architecture with exceptionally caring and professional service. Opened in 2003, the hotel was recognised as the AA Hotel of the Year within 12 months and is now a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, a collection of the world’ s most distinguished properties. The Grove offers luxury accommodation in 26 historic Mansion rooms and suites, as well as 189 rooms within the contemporary West Wing, together with an award-winning spa, Sequoia where guests can indulge in a variety of treatments. Sequoia spa was previously voted the favourite hotel spa in the UK by readers off Conde Nast Traveller.
In addition, the estate is also home to three restaurants in the heart of the 18th Century mansion, including the 3 AA Rosette finedining restaurant Collette’ s, formal gardens created by Chelsea Golf medallist and judge Michael Balston and a walled garden with an open air pool and urban beach.
The 7,152 yard championship golf course was designed by the distinguished international architect Kyle Philips, who combines modern game strategies with the great traditions of British golf course architecture. The 18-hole layout is kept in immaculate condition and follows a majestic route through the rolling leafy Hertfordshire landscape fully integrated cart paths which are open all year round. You can select the course length for your ability, thanks to the expansive tees.
The Grove still remains the only UK venue to have hosted a World Golf Championship event, won by Tiger Woods in 2006, and its course consistently features in many influential Top 100 rankings, including those produced by Golf Monthly and Golf World Magazines. It was also the host venue for the European Tour ' s 2016 British Masters, in association with Sky Sports
