Hamburg’s only golf resort, the Steigenberger Hotel Treudelberg
exquisitely combines sporting facilities of the highest standard
with warm hospitality. In addition to a 225-room hotel with three
restaurants, an inviting pool, sauna and fitness facility, the hotel
boasts a challenging 27-hole course, with nine new fairways ranking
among the most spectacular in northern Germany. The existing
18-hole championship golf course, with a total length of 6,019m
from the championship tees and a par of 72, was planned by British
golf course architect Donald Steel. Extending to over 72 hectares
and nestling between the hedgerows of the typically North German
landscape, the course challenges beginners and experts alike, with
its strategically-placed bunkers, water hazards, and biotopes. The
course was impressively extended in 2008/2009 by David Krause,
the well-known German-Canadian golf course architect. With a sure
touch, he has created a par 36 beauty over a further 28 hectares that
is in a class of its own.
