Dromoland Castle
The Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club golf course
on the Dromoland Estate is a captivating test of golf,
surrounded by the wonders of the Irish countryside.
It has been described as an experience
never to be forgotten, presenting the pure
challenge of golf to both professional
and amateur alike. The 18 enchanting
holes sweep through 410 acres of shady
woodland, open rolling pasture, wild lakes
and streams with the magnificence of a
16th century baronial castle presiding over
the estate.
In 2003, the par 72 championship parkland
course was carefully redesigned and
updated by renowned architect Ron Kirby
and Irish golfing legend JB Carr. The
course plays 6,824 yards for men and 5,242
yards for ladies. The signature 7th hole
overlooking the lake and the castle has
been retained with magnificent views from
the tee box. The green is flanked by a water
feature and shamrock bunker, creating a
memorable par 3. Set in over 400 acres
of mature woodland, the course rumbles
over open rolling pasture, through the
dense trees and brings natural lakes and
streams into play constantly. With Shannon
Airport only a 10-minute drive away on the
motorway, Dromoland has never been so
easy to access. Dromoland offers a great
introduction to Irish golf and may also be an
ideal venue for a final round when departing
in the late morning or early afternoon.
