Tuesday, December 17 Reading: Isaiah 30-31 ( 8 minutes) Short Reading: Isaiah 30:15-26 ( 1 minute) The human heart is so proud that it cannot bear to hear of its own sin. The message of the law is difficult to hear. But we must heart it because it is God’s message. At the same time, God also promises forgiveness life and salvation through Christ. What are some of the vivid ways sin is described and ways that God’s love and forgiveness are described in this section? Wednesday, December 18 Reading: Isaiah 32-33 ( 8 minutes) Short Reading: Isaiah 32:15, 16-20 ( 1 minute) The last two chapters both ended with graphic pictures of Assyria’s fall. But what about the people of God? Isaiah holds out a promise that they will enter a new era in which there would be dramatic spiritual renewal (a theme that continues into the next reading – Isaiah 35, especially). How is this new era and the king responsible for this described? 12
