Molly Bryan – Arena Racing Company

I ’ m a 21-year-old from Sheffield and I ’ ve just completed my final year at the University of Lincoln studying journalism . My love for horse racing began when I was eight and my parents became involved with the sport , since then my passion for the sport has grown . Racing has provided me with some of my best memories and I ’ m excited to add to them . I ’ m very grateful to be on the British Horseracing Development programme as I want to learn about all aspects of the industry and make new contacts . I have a huge desire to increase diversity and inclusivity and have more young people experience the amazing sport but this will also help secure a stable future for the industry . My career aspirations involve having a positive impact on the industry and hopefully using what I ’ ve learnt in my degree to write or create content about horse racing .

Isobel Wells – British Horseracing Authority

My name is Isobel Wells and I am a 21‐year‐old graduate from Hartpury University where I studied a degree in Equine Science . As a big horseracing fan from a young age , racing has always been a big part of my life , and I loved learning more about how the racing industry works and the science of racehorses whilst studying on the doorstep of Cheltenham racecourse . For my final‐year dissertation , I researched how the start of flat races in the UK can impact subsequent racehorse performance , which sparked an interest in the regulation and integrity aspect of the horseracing industry . I am incredibly excited to be a part of this year ’ s programme and hope to learn more about this side of the sport during my placement with the British Horseracing Authority . My long‐term hope is to develop an exciting career in horseracing where I can play a part in ensuring that British racing remains the best in the world , with the welfare of the horse and all other stakeholders at the forefront .
