Good Samaritan already had a plan for their new home but needed help coming up with the funds and labor to implement this plan. With this in mind ECF committed to a partnership with Good Samaritan to provide volunteer services and some funds to build this new, permanent clinic. They call this partnership The Matthew Project. Good Samaritan’s new home will be constructed in three phases. Each phase will add a wood-frame-on-concrete-slab clinical building. These buildings will be built primarily by volunteers overseen by professionals. Phase one, a one-story 4,000 square foot building, is currently under way which will ultimately house multiple medical functions as well as the pharmacy. The lobby/waiting area will be included in phase one and 24 new parking spaces will be added. According to the Matthew Project’s design, ECF has funded a volunteer coordinator position to engage teams of volunteers in Central and North Georgia and to inspire them to participate in these mission trips to build the new facilities. Utilizing her background in fundraising and volunteer management, Volunteer Coordinator Hannah Phillips works with these mission teams to arrange the logistics of all volunteer participation. With the construction of Building One just getting underway, our volunteer needs vary, but there are two primary types of volunteers needed. The first need is for able bodied missioners to work on constructing this building. The second volunteer need is for people more interested in providing hospitality to the construction workers by preparing lunches and snacks. The Phase I clinical building will be one story with 4000 square feet. Supervisors and volunteers have begun construction of Building One. The Matthew Project will be a three phase project that we anticipate will last for three years. Things are just beginning and we would love to have you join us in this mission.
