a child discover and accomplish these things, they all fall short of fulfilling the desire of a mother’s undivided heart that they have a deep love for God. The mission of motherhood, as the Lord intended, is not centered on the temporally significant things of life, but is centered on building a Godly inheritance for Christ. It is about equipping the next generation with biblical foundations on which they develop a biblical worldview. There is no greater call than the mission the Lord gave mothers: to teach, encourage, and equip their children with the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, to “touch your child’s heart for eternity.” I have said for the last five years that Ava is my first mission field. Only now do I fully understand the meaning and significance of these words that have flowed from my heart. As parents, we often overlook the magnitude of this gift that God gave us. It is easy to get busy and forget just how important our seconds, minutes, hours, days, and years are with our children— intentionally shaping and molding their hearts for eternity. It is easy to see and understand the mission field outside our front door, but harder to see the mission field sitting right in front of us at the breakfast table. I am so thankful for my far away parents and friends that planted these seeds into my heart, those that have been praying for me to “get it”! The seeds have been watered and nurtured, have borne fruit and have truly, truly birthed a ministry for Ava in my heart. It also has given me a burden to see this revelation, this enlightenment, be birthed in the ladies to whom I am seeking to minister weekly. Many like me, say the right things and have some limited understanding but only see through the glass dimly. Perhaps they, too, by God’s grace will come to these revelations that I have been so blessed to have received.
